Zero Network Shuts Ethereum L2 After 18 Months, Sets July 31 Deadline
Zero Network, Zerion’s gasless Ethereum Layer 2, will permanently shut down on July 31, 2026 after roughly 18 months of operation. The latest announcement follows MegaETH’s early closure of its Terminal rewards program on May 21 and multiple May 22 reports confirming Zerion’s wind-down. Deposits and inbound bridging are already disabled while users must withdraw ETH, ERC-20 tokens and NFTs before the July 31 cutoff or risk permanent loss. The move is part of a broader consolidation wave that also includes closures at Syndicate Labs, Everclear and Fantasy.top. Market impact on ETH remains modest and largely technical as bridging activity may temporarily lift mainnet gas demand.
