YouTube, Snap and TikTok reached undisclosed settlements with Breathitt County School District on May 18, removing three defendants from the bellwether trial now focused on Meta ahead of the June 15 start. The move follows Alphabet’s May 11 preliminary $135 million Android data-collection settlement covering up to 100 million users and a May 14 class-action accusing OpenAI of routing ChatGPT queries to Google. More than 5,700 related suits remain pending in California courts, and a March Los Angeles jury already awarded $6 million against Meta and Alphabet, leaving ongoing legal and reputational pressure on the sector.
