Waymo Starts Free Public Ojai Robotaxi Rides in SF, LA and Phoenix

As of June 2, Waymo is preparing to launch limited free public rides of its new Ojai robotaxi minivan in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Phoenix. The rollout follows the vehicle's May 28-29 unveilings and a May 31 assessment labeling it a potential gamechanger versus the Jaguar I-Pace fleet. The all-electric vehicle uses Waymo's sixth-generation Driver, already credited with over 20 million autonomous trips, and is produced at scale in Mesa, Arizona with partners Zeekr and Magna. Expansion to Denver, Las Vegas and San Diego is slated for later in 2026, though safety pauses and regulatory scrutiny remain near-term risks for Alphabet (GOOG.OQ).
