An exploit on the WAX multichain bridge resulted in the unauthorized release of approximately $90,000 in digital assets across Solana and Ethereum, up from an initial estimate of $75,000. The incident occurred across five transactions on Thursday, October 22, caused by a vulnerability where bridge contracts released destination assets without requiring matching deposits on the WAX source chain. Stolen funds included 52,986 USDC, 21,558 USDT, 840 DAI, 2.55 wrapped Ether (WETH), and 0.11 wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC).
