Volo Protocol loses $3.5M in targeted Sui vault exploit

Volo Protocol suffered a targeted exploit on the Sui blockchain that drained about $3.5 million from three vaults (holding WBTC, USDC and XAUm). The team immediately froze all vaults, halted deposits/withdrawals, and coordinated with the Sui Foundation and security investigators. Roughly $28 million in TVL across other vaults remains intact, and recovery efforts reportedly froze ~$500,000 of stolen assets and blocked attempts to move ~19.6 WBTC. Volo says it will absorb the loss and will publish a post-mortem. Market implications include reputational damage, likely short-term outflows from Sui vaults, higher future security costs, and risk-off pressure on Sui yield-vault products — prompting sell recommendations for VOLO and broad Sui vault exposure until containment and fixes are verified.
