Vitalik Buterin Proposes Defensive Decentralized Acceleration as Staked Ether Hits Record High

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin presented Defensive Decentralized Acceleration at Devcon 8 in Mumbai as a solution to centralized artificial intelligence risks. The framework uses open-source software, trustworthy hardware, and cryptography to establish decentralized blockchains as core AI infrastructure. Meanwhile, staked Ether reached an all-time high of 44.3 million ETH, accounting for about 36.3% of total circulating supply. This followed Buterin's warnings at the conference that rapid AI advancements could discover algorithmic shortcuts compromising cryptographic primitives, including elliptic curve and lattice-based security.
