Vitalik Buterin Calls Lean Ethereum the Biggest Rebuild Since Merge as ETH Hits $1,777

On July 6, Vitalik Buterin described Ethereum’s Lean roadmap as the network’s largest overhaul since the Merge, with the plan now entering its execution phase. The story began July 4 when Ethereum first outlined targets of 10,000 TPS on Layer 1 and 1 million TPS across Layer 2s. On July 5, Buterin detailed the multi-year blueprint emphasizing post-quantum cryptography, native STARKs, and a 100 TB state by 2030, with the Glamsterdam upgrade set for H2 2026 to push gas limits above 200 million. Developers have already launched PQ Devnets 0-4 and begun testing quantum-resistant cryptography alongside Verkle trees. Ether has rallied more than 12% in the past week to around $1,777 on the constructive long-term outlook.
