UTXO Management Becomes First Institution to Stake Bitcoin on Stacks

On May 28 2026 UTXO Management became the first institutional participant to stake Bitcoin on the Stacks Layer-2 using the new sBTC asset, targeting roughly 3% annual yield paid in BTC while retaining custody. The move follows Hex Trust’s custody support rollout in April 2025 and rapid sBTC capacity growth from zero to about 3,000 BTC within 24 hours, with Jump Crypto and SNZ also participating. Participants must bond BTC for an initial six-month lockup and hold STX equal to 5% of their BTC position, with rewards distributed via the Proof-of-Transfer mechanism that has already allocated 4,200 BTC since 2021.
