US stocks open lower. S&P and NASDAQ dip below their 100 hour moving averages

US equity indices opened lower to start the week and conclude the month, with both the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite slipping below their respective 100-hour moving averages. The S&P 500 retreated by approximately 31 points or 0.41% to trade near 7,678.26, moving under its 100-hour moving average of 7,716.94. Despite today's pullback, the index remains up 2.54% on the month, while the Nasdaq holds a 3.69% monthly advance. Selling pressure has been fueled by escalating bond yields following hawkish central bank commentary at Jackson Hole, coupled with rising Middle East tensions that have lifted crude oil prices. The benchmark U.S. 10-year Treasury yield climbed 3.8 basis points to 4.76%, while the 30-year yield advanced 5.2 basis points to 5.260%. Technically, the breach below the 100-hour moving average dampens recent bullish momentum and shifts the short-term bias toward neutral. However, support at the 200-hour moving average of 7,632.08 is keeping buyers in play. A sustained break below that level could trigger further downside toward the 100-day moving average at 7,441.52, whereas reclaiming 7,716.94 would refocus attention on all-time highs.
