Russia to Send First Diesel Cargo to US Following Supply Deal

Russia announced it will dispatch its first diesel tanker carrying 40,000 metric tons to the United States on Thursday. The move follows a bilateral agreement between President Donald Trump and Russian leadership, which prompted Moscow to lift an export ban instituted after Ukrainian drone strikes on refineries. Global diesel benchmark prices fell 5% to 6% following the announcement. The shipments come as the U.S. faces acute fuel shortages, with retail diesel prices holding above $6 per gallon, leading the administration to invoke the Defense Production Act and deploy $1 billion to restart idled domestic refineries.
