US Launches $8 Billion Harvest Fuel Relief Program to Offset Soaring Farm Diesel Costs

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is launching an $8 billion Harvest Fuel Relief program to assist American farmers with elevated fuel expenses during the 2026 harvest season. Administered by the Farm Service Agency, the program will disburse one-time payments to offset modeled input losses. The relief comes as domestic retail diesel prices advanced to $6.3187 per gallon from $6.2665 per gallon the prior week, driven partly by geopolitical conflict involving the U.S., Israel, and Iran. Previous relief efforts included deferring a $0.244 per gallon federal tax and planning multi-phase diesel imports.
