Tuesday's First Moves: MSFT & CRWD PT Hikes, AKAM Upgrade
Wall Street analysts have issued major price target adjustments and rating upgrades across key technology and cloud software providers. Bank of America raised its price target on Microsoft (MSFT) from $500 to $600 while reiterating a Buy rating. The 20% target increase is backed by accelerating cloud growth, with Azure expanding 43% year-over-year and projected to reach 45% growth in the first quarter of fiscal 2027. BofA highlighted Microsoft's comprehensive footprint across AI infrastructure, foundation models, and application layers, which justifies a higher valuation multiple as returns on capital expenditure become clearer. Simultaneously, Piper Sandler upgraded Akamai Technologies (AKAM) to Overweight from Neutral, citing strong momentum in its compute segment, which boasts over $2.8 billion in compute commitments. Elsewhere in tech, Truist hiked its price target on cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike (CRWD) from $245 to $300 following record quarterly earnings driven by a 26% year-over-year revenue increase and $332.8 million in net new annual recurring revenue.
