Treasury Firms Stack Ethereum, Solana, and Bitcoin Through a Jittery September Market

Corporate treasury firms actively increased their cryptocurrency holdings in mid-September despite prevailing market turbulence and anticipation of a critical Federal Reserve interest rate decision. While digital assets traded sideways, institutions demonstrated strong conviction through strategic accumulation across major tokens including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana. BitMine Immersion Technologies acquired 27,180 ETH, expanding its total balance to 5.956 million ETH (approximately 4.9% of circulating supply), with 5.07 million tokens staked and total crypto/cash assets valued at $15.8 billion. Meanwhile, DeFi Development Corp expanded its Solana holdings to 2.39 million SOL and launched a $300 million ATM offering. In the Bitcoin space, Strive purchased 469 BTC at an average price of $77,954, bringing its holdings to 25,000 BTC. Conversely, Strategy chose not to acquire additional Bitcoin, instead repurchasing $139 million of its STRC preferred stock while maintaining 845,050 BTC. These aggressive treasury expansions face immediate macro headwinds as the Federal Open Market Committee rate decision approaches. With market probabilities favoring higher interest rates, non-yielding crypto assets could experience downward pressure, testing the long-term balance sheet resilience of corporate treasury accumulators.
