Tokenized gold poised for further growth as World Gold Council pushes market standardization, says Gold Token SA CEO
Tokenized gold is positioned for further growth as the World Gold Council moves to standardize the market, says Kurt Hemecker, CEO of Gold Token SA. Although demand for gold remains strong, tokenized products are hampered by fragmentation across custody, legal frameworks and redemption terms, limiting trust, liquidity and fungibility. The WGC’s “Gold as a Service” framework would create shared infrastructure linking physical custody with digital issuance, improving interoperability and enabling tokens to be used as collateral or integrated into financial products. Hemecker reports robust institutional interest and sees standardization as a catalyst to scale the market and unlock broader adoption.
