Thailand's SEC Finalizes Regulations for Spot Bitcoin and Ether ETFs
Thailand's Securities and Exchange Commission has finalized a regulatory framework permitting spot Bitcoin and Ether exchange-traded funds to list on the Stock Exchange of Thailand starting October 16, 2026. Under the 11 notifications, funds must be passively managed single-asset products maintaining at least 80% average net asset value exposure to the underlying cryptocurrency over each accounting year. Underlying assets must be stored with SEC-supervised onshore custodians. The regulations enable Thai mutual funds and private funds to invest in domestic crypto ETFs, while prohibiting brokers from offering margin lending for purchases.
