Thailand SEC Finalizes Rules for Spot Bitcoin and Ether ETFs Starting October 16

Thailand's Securities and Exchange Commission has finalized a regulatory framework allowing domestic spot Bitcoin and Ether exchange-traded funds to list on the Stock Exchange of Thailand starting October 16, 2026. Under 11 newly issued notifications, funds must be passively managed, track a single cryptocurrency, and maintain an average net exposure of at least 80% of net asset value annually. The rules permit Thai mutual and private funds to invest in local crypto ETFs, while requiring onshore SEC-supervised custody. Local brokers are barred from extending margin loans for purchases or distributing foreign crypto ETFs to retail investors.
