Tether Partner Utexo to Relaunch USDT on Bitcoin Network in October

Tether is relaunching its flagship stablecoin, USDT, on the Bitcoin network in October 2026 through infrastructure partner Utexo. The integration uses the RGB protocol and Bitcoin's UTXO model to enable private transfers, native BTC-USDT swaps, and Bitcoin-collateralized lending without wrapped tokens. Tether had halted Omni Layer issuance in August 2023. Utexo, which raised $7.5 million in seed funding earlier in 2026, holds a commercial license from Tether to issue the stablecoin. Over 450 institutions and businesses have registered early interest ahead of the mainnet rollout, with plans to expand onto the Lightning Network.
