Tether Brings Google's TurboQuant to Production, Unlocking Long-Context AI on Everyday Devices

Tether has released a production implementation of Google Research’s TurboQuant inside QVAC SDK 0.12.0, enabling up to 5x compression of AI KV cache memory with minimal quality loss. The upgrade lets laptops, phones and edge devices run much longer local AI sessions (e.g., handling 100‑page documents) without cloud reliance, strengthening privacy-focused, on-device AI use cases and lowering demand for hyperscale GPU resources.
