Tesla's Miami Robotaxi Launch Stays Limited to Small Geofenced Zones

As of July 13, Tesla's robotaxi service in Miami remains restricted to a small geofenced area covering parts of West Miami, Doral and Sweetwater, excluding downtown, Miami Beach and the airport. The rollout began with Cybercab testing in Austin on June 30, followed by the July 3 unsupervised launch in Miami as the first city outside Texas and California. The service has since expanded to Austin, Dallas and Houston with fully autonomous Model Y vehicles, yet meaningful revenue is still not expected before 2027 amid competition from Waymo. Tesla shares rose 6.7% to $419.82 after the Miami announcement before skepticism returned over the slow pace and high valuation above 380x earnings.
