Tesla withdraws termination notice on Syrah graphite supply deal

Tesla has withdrawn its notice to terminate the 2021 graphite supply agreement with Australia's Syrah Resources, resolving months of negotiations and averting an immediate contract split. The resolution follows the May 29 downsizing of a years-long strike at Tesla's Swedish facilities by union IF Metall, which began in October 2023. Under the deal, Syrah was to deliver 8,000 metric tons of graphite anode material over four years from its Vidalia, Louisiana plant. Tesla had issued a default notice in July 2025 over active anode material conformity issues, with resolution deadlines extended four times. The outcomes reduce operational and supply-chain risks for TSLA.
