Tesla to create 1,000 new jobs in Germany, responding to Model Y demand

Tesla will add 1,000 jobs at its Grünheide, Germany gigafactory by the end of June to raise weekly production roughly 20% from the third quarter in response to stronger Model Y demand. Recruitment starts in May; about 500 temporary workers are expected to be made permanent this year. Tesla is also recruiting several hundred employees for battery cell production, planned to begin in the first half of 2027. The plant currently employs ~11,500 staff and is Tesla’s only European gigafactory amid falling market share in the region. The ramp-up should boost Model Y supply in Europe and could be positive for TSLA.OQ by addressing demand, though competitive pressures in the European market remain a challenge.
