Tesla Stock Rallies Another 3% on Jobs Beat, Model Y NHTSA Win
Tesla shares climbed another 3% on May 8 amid a risk-on surge from stronger-than-expected US jobs data (+115,000 vs. +55,000 forecast), extending a rally that saw the stock rise 3.3% to $411.81 on May 7 after Shanghai shipments reached 79,478 units in April (+36% YoY). Earlier on May 7, TSLA traded at $404.55 (up 1.46%), 6.7% above the 20-day SMA ($379.48) and 5.7% above the 50-day SMA ($382.91), but 1.5% below the 100-day SMA ($411.05) with resistance at $409.50. The 2026 Model Y's first-pass of NHTSA's new ADAS tests added tailwinds, as S&P 500 gained 0.6% and Nasdaq 1.1%.
