Tesla Begins Optimus Robot Production in Fremont, Targets First Deliveries by Late 2027
Tesla has commenced manufacturing its first production-quality Optimus humanoid robots at its Fremont, California plant, with initial customer deliveries targeted by the end of next year. CEO Elon Musk stated during the company's latest earnings call that training the robots resembles raising a toddler due to physical data constraints. To address this, Tesla is developing an 'Optimus Academy' and plans to build 10,000 to 20,000 prototypes for training. The Fremont line targets an eventual capacity of one million robots per year, while an Austin facility under construction is aimed at 10 million units annually.
