Tech stocks today: Oura files IPO paperwork, Nvidia's Huang pushes back on AI doomsday talk

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang pushed back against widespread artificial intelligence doomsday narratives during an interview on Sunday, following calls from Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei to slow down the development of advanced frontier AI systems. Huang dismissed extreme apocalyptic fears that AI could wipe out humanity as completely false and lacking scientific foundation, though he acknowledged that researchers' dedication to building safe technology remains essential. The remarks provide reassurance to investors amid persistent regulatory and existential debates surrounding the rapidly evolving generative AI sector. Separately, smart health tracking ring manufacturer Oura publicly filed paperwork for its initial public offering. Oura aims to raise upwards of $2.2 billion by offering 50 million shares priced in the range of $40 to $44 per share. The company reported $1.2 billion in revenue for the nine-month period ending June 30, up significantly from $697 million in the prior-year period, alongside 4.1 million ring sales and a net loss of $924 million.
