Tech leads S&P 500 sectors in positive 2026 EPS revisions since July

As August draws to a close, the Information Technology sector has demonstrated the strongest earnings-per-share (EPS) estimate revision breadth across the S&P 500 for 2026. Data compiled from BofA Global Research and FactSet indicates that 86% of tech companies have seen upward EPS revisions since July 1, outpacing all other major market sectors. This widespread upward trend in earnings projections underscores continued fundamental resilience and earnings optimism within the tech industry. Other sectors also showed solid upward revision momentum, with Real Estate and Industrials both recording positive EPS revisions for 80% of their constituent companies. Financials followed closely at 79%, while Health Care posted 73%. In contrast, Utilities and Materials lagged the broader market, registering the lowest revision breadth at 55% and 48%, respectively. Within the technology sector, several individual firms, including Lattice Semiconductor, achieved top-tier A+ EPS revision grades, highlighting sustained analyst confidence as markets assess long-term corporate profitability trends.
