Taiwan Detains Two Super Micro Employees in Nvidia AI Server Export Probe

As of July 2, Taiwanese prosecutors have detained two Super Micro Computer employees and released two others on bail in an expanding probe into alleged illegal exports of advanced AI servers containing Nvidia chips to China. The detentions follow June 29 raids on the company's Taiwan offices and affiliated sites, which triggered an 8-9% intraday stock plunge to $28.15 and added to a 39% monthly decline. Earlier May arrests involved falsified export documents for roughly 50 servers. The investigation heightens risks of tighter export controls and supply disruptions for SMCI ahead of its August 4 earnings report, despite robust Q3 revenue growth of 123% to $10.24 billion.
