Swiss bank BancaStato launches regulated crypto trading with Sygnum
Swiss cantonal bank BancaStato has launched regulated crypto trading and custody through Sygnum, integrating Bitcoin, Ether, Litecoin and Solana into its existing web and mobile banking apps via Avaloq. The move expands mainstream access to digital assets for bank customers without needing separate platforms, highlighting continued institutional adoption of crypto infrastructure in Europe. Sygnum said BancaStato is the first bank using Avaloq’s SaaS platform to offer crypto via its e-banking apps through Sygnum’s API, underscoring growing scalability and maturity of regulated digital asset services. The development is mildly supportive for Bitcoin sentiment as another traditional bank adds BTC access, but it is primarily a structural adoption story rather than a direct price catalyst.
