Starknet Community Backs Research to Exit Ethereum Layer 2 for Post-Quantum Layer 1

Starknet token holders voted 93.52% in favor of exploring a transition from an Ethereum Layer 2 to an independent, quantum-safe Layer 1 blockchain. The non-binding vote approved research led by StarkWare and the Starknet Foundation to adopt hash-based post-quantum cryptography ahead of Ethereum's roadmap, with a draft whitepaper due in November. Following the decision, Starknet's secured capital dropped 39.9% over seven days to $395 million, while the STRK token fell 16.1% to $0.054. Any actual network migration will require a separate binding vote.
