Spire Global Awarded $3.7 Million NOAA Contract for Satellite Weather Data

Spire Global announced a $3.7 million NOAA contract to provide satellite weather data from Sept. 18 to Dec. 1, 2026, extending its role as a commercial data supplier for operational weather forecasting. The award covers global navigation satellite system radio occultation (GNSS-RO) data, including a newly distinguished deliverable: RO profiles with Temporal Resolution Enhancements, which improve time-of-day sampling and fill historical coverage gaps. The contract reinforces NOAA’s continued reliance on Spire’s data and signals growing demand for commercial space-based weather observations. The announcement is modestly positive for Spire because it adds near-term revenue, validates product utility, and strengthens its relationship with a major U.S. government customer ahead of NOAA’s next commercial RO acquisition phase starting Dec. 1, 2026.
