SpaceX Seals $60B Cursor Deal as Tesla Merger Odds Top 80%
SpaceX's $60 billion all-stock acquisition of Anysphere, parent of the Cursor AI coding platform, marks the company's largest deal yet and the centerpiece of its post-IPO AI push. The transaction, disclosed in a June 16 SEC filing and expected to close in Q3 pending approvals, adds less than 3% dilution while bringing Cursor's over $2 billion in annual recurring revenue into the xAI ecosystem. The move follows SpaceX's record $75 billion IPO in mid-June that valued the company above $2.1 trillion and fueled rapid repricing past $2.9 trillion. Investor focus has since shifted to merger speculation, with Wedbush's Dan Ives assigning over 80% probability of a SpaceX-Tesla combination within the next year on shared AI, robotics, and Starlink synergies.
