On May 29, 2026, South Bow announced it had secured 20-year binding shipper commitments after its open season closed March 30, materially de-risking the 550,000 bpd Prairie Connector project and clearing the path for a final investment decision targeted for mid-2027. Trans Mountain simultaneously launched an open season for another 72,000 bpd while confirming near-term additions of 90,000 bpd via drag-reducing agents, with total capacity slated to reach 1.2 million bpd by 2029. Cenovus also advanced its Christina Lake North redevelopment, identifying 250 targets to support its goal of 1.0 million Boe/d upstream production by 2028.
