Meta (Facebook) will distribute a second round of payments from its $725 million privacy settlement, sending bonus payouts beginning June 9 over about four weeks. Court filings show roughly $100 million remains in the fund (about $95 million after admin costs), with more than 15 million claimants expected to share payments estimated between $4.67 and $7.32 each. Only U.S. users who used Facebook from May 24, 2007, to Dec. 22, 2022, filed a claim by Aug. 25, 2023, and cashed an initial payment are eligible. The settlement was finalized in 2023 stemming from Cambridge Analytica-era lawsuits; Meta denied wrongdoing but settled to avoid trial. Financially, the remaining payout is immaterial relative to Meta’s market capitalization and is unlikely to move the stock materially, though it removes a small litigation overhang.
