SBI Crypto Winds Down Bitcoin Mining Pool After Five-Year Run
SBI Crypto confirmed on July 2 it will close its Bitcoin mining pool on July 31, 2026, ending operations that began in March 2021. The pool, ranked 12th globally with 21.46 EH/s and 2.24% of network hashrate, will stop accepting shares at 22:00 UTC on July 30. The move follows the June 30 announcement and reflects SBI's pivot to exchange growth via its Bitbank acquisition and stablecoin initiatives rather than a full crypto exit. Miners are directed to Braiins, Luxor, and NeoPool, with limited expected impact on Bitcoin's price or protocol.
