Satoshi‑Era Bitcoin Holdings Jump $15B After Stunning BTC Rally
A sharp rally in Bitcoin propelled its price from a low of $62,679 on August 17 to a peak of $81,265, marking a nearly 22% increase over seven days. This strong upward momentum boosted the estimated value of Bitcoin holdings attributed to its pseudonymous creator, Satoshi Nakamoto, by approximately $15 billion. According to on-chain data tracked by Arkham Intelligence, Nakamoto is believed to control roughly 1.096 million BTC spread across approximately 22,000 addresses, bringing the total value of those dormant holdings to around $85.82 billion at current trading levels near $78,280. Alongside the price surge, on-chain analysts observed the reactivation of early-era dormant wallets. Galaxy Research highlighted a transaction involving an address inactive since May 28, 2012, which transferred 40 BTC to German custody provider Boerse Stuttgart Digital. Originally acquired for approximately $200 when Bitcoin traded near $5, the coins were valued at around $3.14 million at transfer, realizing a return of over 1,535,911%. Such dormant wallet reactivations represent a recurring phenomenon during extended market bull runs.
