Samsung, SK Hynix stock targets lifted at Barclays on robust HBM demand

Barclays raised price targets on Samsung and SK Hynix, citing robust high-bandwidth memory (HBM) demand, improving pricing trends, and continued optimism around AI-related semiconductor spending despite sector volatility. Samsung’s target was lifted to 8,300 won from 7,300 won, implying about 50% upside, while SK Hynix’s target rose to 2,900 euros from 2,300 euros, implying roughly 90% upside. Barclays said Samsung has reportedly already shipped $1 billion of HBM4 and that SK Hynix should benefit from strong HBM pricing tailwinds in 2027. The bank also said Micron’s results reinforced the view that memory prices are still rising, while it expects a more modest pricing decline in 2028 as supply increases. Overall, the note is supportive for AI memory-chip suppliers and suggests near-term weakness in the sector could be a buying opportunity.
