S&P 500 Futures Rise 0.2% Amid Fresh Iran Strikes and Oil Spike

Markets opened Thursday with mixed futures after renewed U.S. strikes on Iran ended the brief ceasefire declared earlier in the week. The S&P 500 closed Wednesday down 0.28% at 7,435.81 while the Dow fell 1.09% and the Nasdaq 100 gained 0.27% as WTI crude jumped more than 4% to $73.58 and the 10-year yield reached 4.59%. Escalation began Monday night when futures reopened sharply lower on news of fresh American military action; Tuesday’s broad selloff pushed oil briefly above $76 and raised odds of a July Fed hike to 33%. Energy and refinery stocks outperformed while rate-sensitive sectors remained under pressure into Thursday.
