Poland’s Largest Exchange Faces $350M Swindling Allegations
Zondacrypto, a major Polish crypto exchange, disclosed it lost access to a wallet holding 4,503 BTC (roughly $350M), allegedly purchased from missing BitBay founder Sylwester Suszek. The revelation prompted a run on the platform that reportedly drained about 99% of the exchange’s bitcoin reserves. The wallet in question received most funds in 2016 and has shown no relevant transactions for over a decade. The episode raises immediate liquidity and trust concerns for the exchange, could accelerate withdrawals elsewhere, and may prompt tighter regulatory and custodial scrutiny in Poland and the wider crypto market.
