PayPal, Google, AWS Push Crypto Rails for $3-5T Agentic Commerce Market
PayPal and Google Cloud told Consensus Miami that crypto rails are essential to scaling 'agentic commerce,' projecting a $3–5 trillion market by 2030 as AI agents drive machine-to-machine payments. This builds on Google's May 10 launch of the Agentic Payments Protocol (AP2), donated to the FIDO Foundation with ~120 partners including PayPal, which promoted PYUSD as a programmable layer. A PayPal survey revealed 95% of merchants see AI agent traffic but only 20% have machine-readable catalogs. Frameworks from AWS Bedrock AgentCore (USDC), Coinbase's x402, Stripe, and others signal broad industry momentum despite fraud and integration risks.
