OpenAI Launches Autonomous Dots Agent, Escalating Enterprise Competition With Meta Platforms

OpenAI has officially launched its autonomous enterprise AI agent, Dots, directly challenging Meta Platforms' competing AI offerings. The launch follows a sharp drop in Meta's shares on Sept. 28, falling as much as 4.7% to $715.62 amid anticipation of OpenAI's announcement. Meta had surged roughly 30% earlier in September after its Muse AI agent surpassed 3.4 million downloads. In response to mounting competition, Meta formed the Meta Enterprise Platform, hiring former MongoDB CEO Chirantan Desai as Chief Enterprise Platform Officer to commercialize its AI tools.
