OpenAI Denies Theft Claims as Apple Lawsuit Escalates, AAPL Climbs 1.5%

On July 13 OpenAI denied all allegations in Apple’s federal lawsuit while the dispute intensified with new claims of coaching and retained access. Apple filed the suit July 10 in the Northern District of California, accusing OpenAI and two ex-engineers of stealing hardware prototypes, manufacturing data, and designs to support its $6.5 billion io hardware push. The complaint names OpenAI hardware chief Tang Yew Tan and Chang Liu, alleges use of a network bug and a retained laptop, and seeks an injunction plus damages after Apple contacted OpenAI in February. AAPL closed July 10-11 at $315.33 (-0.28%) before rising 1.5% near $320 by July 13 morning.
