Nvidia's 'Used GPU Market' Is Suddenly Booming, Says CoreWeave
CoreWeave told a J.P. Morgan conference that the used market for older Nvidia GPUs (Hopper, Ampere, and even Tesla/Volta-era cards) is strengthening as AI customers prioritize workload economics over always buying the latest hardware. The firm said aging GPUs remain profitable in cloud and inference workloads, suggesting the typical six-year depreciation assumption for GPUs may be conservative. CoreWeave also pushed back on expectations that customers will rapidly shift to alternatives like Google TPUs, noting client demand remains overwhelmingly for NVIDIA GPUs. The remarks imply a longer monetization tail for Nvidia’s installed base and reinforce the company’s ecosystem advantages, supporting a bullish market view for Nvidia exposure and potentially limiting near-term adoption of alternative accelerators.
