Nvidia Wins Modal CPU Business for Vera Chips, Challenging Intel and AMD

AI cloud-computing startup Modal will deploy Nvidia's new Vera central processing units to host autonomous AI agents, shifting away from exclusive reliance on Intel and Advanced Micro Devices. Early testing showed the Vera chips doubled workload capacity for AI agents relative to competing hardware. While Modal plans to operate a mixed fleet, the deal advances Nvidia's push into the estimated $200 billion CPU market, where it forecasts at least $20 billion in Vera revenue this fiscal year. Modal recently raised $750 million at a $15.75 billion valuation and is tracking toward $1 billion in annual sales.
