Noon Energy and Meta Announce Plans for Up to 1 GW of 100+ Hour Energy Storage for Data Centers

Meta has agreed to reserve up to 1 GW / 100 GWh of Noon Energy’s 100+ hour ultra-long-duration energy storage capacity to support its next-generation AI data centers. The deal starts with a 25 MW / 2.5 GWh pilot project scheduled for completion by 2028, with delivery scaling to a 1 GW / 100 GWh supply contract after a successful pilot. The arrangement strengthens Meta’s ability to deploy AI infrastructure faster by providing firm, 24/7 clean power from quick-to-build renewables paired with Noon’s reversible solid oxide systems. Market implications include improved infrastructure resilience for Meta, potential cost and reliability benefits for its data-center rollouts, and a validation boost for ultra-LDES players and their supply chains. Noon has raised over $45 million in VC and grants to date.
