No Tesla recall in Europe at present, Dutch regulator says

The Dutch vehicle regulator RDW announced that there is currently no recall of Tesla vehicles in Europe regarding issues with emergency door-opening mechanisms. The statement comes shortly after China conducted its largest-ever automotive recall, which encompassed 4.3 million vehicles, including 2.98 million Tesla cars, over concerns that flush or electronic emergency door handles could be difficult for passengers or rescue personnel to locate and operate following an accident. As the primary regulatory body overseeing Tesla vehicle safety approvals across the European Union, the RDW stated it is actively monitoring the situation while declining to confirm whether a formal investigation is underway. The authority emphasized that vehicle doors must open intuitively from both inside and outside during emergencies, even during total electrical failure. Discussions on potential new emergency access standards are currently taking place within United Nations regulatory frameworks and Euro NCAP safety testing protocols, highlighting potential future compliance requirements for automakers utilizing recessed door designs.
