Nikkei 225 Rebounds to 29,187 on Wall Street Gains

The Nikkei 225 staged a sharp recovery on May 22, climbing 395 points to 29,186.86 after positive overnight cues from U.S. markets. The rebound followed a steep sell-off that took the index to 28,818 on May 20 amid weakening global risk appetite and concerns over oil prices and yields. Earlier, on May 17, the index had already surrendered nearly 1,800 points in two sessions, closing at 61,409 and approaching the critical 61,000 support level as traders braced for a Bank of Japan decision.
