Newmont-backed Awalé drills new gold discovery at Odienné in Côte d’Ivoire
Awalé Resources reported a new near-surface gold discovery at its Fremen target within the Odienné project in Côte d’Ivoire, with highlight intercepts including 17 m at 1.9 g/t Au (from 6 m) and 12 m at 2.1 g/t Au (from 32 m). The results, from a 5,210 m stage-three program (126 holes), confirm mineralization over a 1-km zone inside an 8-km corridor and precede an initial resource due Q2 and a preliminary economic assessment due Q3. Awalé is backed by Newmont and Fortuna, and its shares rose about 3% to C$0.82 (C$92.5m market cap) on the news. The discovery boosts exploration upside and could positively affect gold and junior-miner sentiment ahead of the resource and PEA milestones.
