Netherlands stocks lower at close of trade; AEX down 0.59%

Dutch stocks settled lower on Monday as broad-based losses across key industry sectors weighed on Amsterdam's benchmark index. The AEX closed down 0.59%, shedding 6.51 points to finish at 1,105.77. Market weakness was primarily driven by sharp contractions in the Technology, Industrials, and Consumer Goods sectors, with falling equities easily outpacing advancing issues on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by a margin of 58 to 42, while seven ended unchanged. Among individual index components, heavyweight semiconductor equipment and payment processing names saw notable downside pressure. Adyen NV led the decliners, falling 3.94% to 1,047.40, followed closely by ASML Holding NV, which declined 2.85% to 1,451.80, and ASM International NV, dropping 2.16% to 808.00. On the upside, SBM Offshore posted the session's strongest gain, rallying 2.87% to 35.08, while Magnum Ice Cream reached a new all-time high after climbing 1.71% to 17.68. The implied volatility gauge, the AEX Volatility Index, remained unchanged at 21.09, reflecting cautious stability among equity option traders despite broader market headwinds and macro shifts across commodities and foreign exchange markets.
