Netflix open to more traditional TV partnerships after TF1 deal- FT
Netflix said it is open to pursuing additional partnerships with traditional broadcasters after launching a new agreement with France’s TF1, according to the Financial Times. The deal gives Netflix subscribers in France access to TF1’s live channels and on-demand programming, marking Netflix’s first collaboration of this kind rather than a standard licensing or in-house production arrangement. CEO Greg Peters said Netflix wants to learn how these partnerships work best, but stressed the company remains committed to its core strategy. The comments also helped cool speculation that Netflix was looking to buy Lionsgate Studios, and came after the company exited earlier bidding for Warner Bros. Discovery. The news is modestly positive for Netflix’s strategic flexibility and international growth, while also signaling that the company is not currently pursuing major M&A.
