Money Metals CEO deplores superficiality of treatment of Fort Knox Gold issue
Money Metals Exchange CEO Stefan Gleason, in a 27-minute Arcadia Economics interview, criticizes the superficial handling of audits of the U.S. gold reserve at Fort Knox, saying official “audits” were only paperwork reviews and that much of the metal is impure and not acceptable under current “good delivery” standards. He also warns some bars may be encumbered by swaps, leases or other claims, and recalls a conversation with former Fed Governor Kevin Warsh implying prior Fed intervention in the gold market. These allegations could erode confidence in official U.S. reserves and support safe-haven demand for physical precious metals, potentially bullish for XAUUSD if market participants price in higher counterparty or liquidity risk for paper gold and official reserves.
