Mitsubishi Electric To Buy US Enterprise Software Maker PCI Energy For $1.40 Bln
Mitsubishi Electric announced it will acquire US enterprise software maker PCI Energy Solutions for $1.40 billion, expanding its footprint in energy management and optimization software. The deal, expected to close in 2026 pending regulatory approvals and other customary conditions, would make PCI a wholly owned subsidiary. PCI’s software supports mission-critical functions such as power trading, generation and transmission operations, supply-demand planning, risk management and settlement, mainly in North America. The transaction signals Mitsubishi Electric’s push into higher-value software tied to the energy transition and utility operations. Mitsubishi Electric shares in Tokyo closed modestly higher, up 0.25% at 5,655 yen, suggesting a limited immediate market reaction.
